Abstract:		 Conservation in situ and permanent retention may not always be appropriate or even feasible, and there may be cases where careful recording is sufficient; in some instances, subsequent detachment or loss may have to be contemplated. The following guidelines are intended to address these issues, covering the evaluation of significance, and the determination of conservation and management needs. Military wall art appears throughout the United Kingdom, on or within buildings that are or once were in military use. Surviving works include murals, pencil sketches, stencils, instructional drawings, signage and simple graffiti, and incorporate both sanctioned and less official forms of decoration.
