This IHA provides an introduction to Roman forts and fortresses (permanent or semipermanent bases of Roman troops). These installations were a very important feature of the Roman period in Britain, as the British provinces were some of the most heavily
militarised in the Roman Empire. Descriptions of the asset type and its development as well as its associations and a brief chronology are included.
