This document is for people who want to understand the difference between Grade II, II* and Grade I listed war memorials. Buildings in England are listed at one of three Grades. These Grades indicate the structure's level of special interest. The document will help people to learn about the national significance of war memorials. It gives advice about the different Grades and also explains that, sometimes, a war memorial might not become a listed building.
