Abstract: |
Following landscape, geophysical and walkover survey and analysis of aerial imagery, five trenches were excavated; two over a linear cropmark feature near the SE boundary of the farm and three over a square enclosure near the NW boundary of the farm The two trenches over the double ditch indicated that they were either a routeway hugging the edge of dry land or a linear boundary of possible prehistoric date although the precise dating uncertain. The three trenches over the ditch defining the square enclosure showed that it was too narrow to be defensive and was more likely a ditch holding upright timber posts for a stock enclosure |
