Abstract:
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Bellway Homes to carry out archaeological excavation in advance of residential development on land East of Southam Road, Banbury, Oxfordshire (centred on National Grid Reference 445852 243108). The fieldwork was carried out between 2nd Febraury and 20th March 2015. The 2.66 ha excavation, comprising of five separate areas, followed a desk-based assessment, a geophysical survey and a trial trench evaluation of the site. The findings from the excavation warrant further analysis and publication. Following any further analysis it is recommended that the findings be published as an article in Oxoniensia, a peer reviewed county journal with regional and international readership.
