Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of the Site identified two historic assets within it: a demolished early 19th-century building and medieval ridge and furrow. The structure was considered to be of negligible
archaeological significance as it has been demolished and little is likely to survive below ground. The fossilised remains of medieval ridge and furrow visible in the fields of the Site are part of an extensive swathe of similar earthworks within the wider area. The evaluation comprised six trial trenches, measuring between 25 m in length and 40 m in length, targeted on known geophysical anomalies. Finds were recovered from the majority of features, with the earliest clearly dated artefacts being medieval in date. |
