Abstract: |
Six exploratory trenches were excavated along the line of a proposed retaining wall. Separate clusters of foundational footings were also excavated for a climbing frame with a slide and several sets of swings. A further area of ground was reduced for climbing cubes. Archaeological deposits comprising two ditches cutting a landscaping deposit were identified in retaining wall trenches 2 and 4. These were probably part of a single ditched garden feature. A probable garden wall was identified at the north-west corner of the site within the footings for the climbing frame and slide. A sandstone culvert was identified during ground reduction in the west end of the site. |
