Abstract: |
The evaluation fieldwork comprised the excavation of three trenches, each measuring 30m in length and 1.8m in width, in locations shown on the attached plan. This represented a 4% sample of the total developable area of c. 0.4ha. The trenches were located to provide a representative sample of the site. In January 2023, Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation of land at Frilford Junction, Frilford, Abingdon, Oxfordshire. A total of three trenches were excavated. The evaluation identified a series of ditches and pits that were broadly dateable to the Iron Age and Roman periods and are potentially associated with agricultural activity. Limited evidence of late medieval clay extraction activity was also recorded. |
