A reassessment of the Bronze Age cemetery-barrow on Itford Hill, East Sussex
M Russell
Reviews evidence recovered from the barrow by excavations in 1971 (published in 1972), along with data from other investigations in the vicinity -- notably the `classic' MBA settlement site at Itford Hill, excavated between 1949 and 1953. It is suggested that the apparently unique complexity of the ritual structure is a result of longevity of use. Also considers the significance of the barrow site in relation to the prehistory of south-eastern England.
