This collection comprises images and CAD data from a historic building recording survey at the Spanish City Theatre, Whitley Bay, undertaken by Archaeological Research Services.

This scheme of works relates to proposed development of the site comprising the former theatre building, a composite part of the Spanish City Complex which is a Grade II Listed Building (NHLE reference number: 1025339).

Accordingly, a scheme of historic building recording is required, to record and advance understanding of the significance of the building prior to re-development, in accordance with paragraph 199 of the National Planning Policy Framework.

To meet this requirement, Tyne and Wear Archaeology Service has provided guidance that an archaeological building recording of the historic back stage equipment be undertaken at the former theatre (TWAS Reference: MON17520). This document comprises the historic building recording undertaken by ARS Ltd in accordance with this guidance.
