This collection comprises images from a watching brief undertaken by AAG Archaeology at Derwent Oak Farm, Lintzford Road, Hamsterley Mill, County Durham in Spring 2017. The watching brief was undertaken on internal alterations to the main farmhouse at Derwent Oak Farm, as a condition of a granted planning permission to alter the main farmhouse and annex.

The ground floor fireplaces and the revealed original external wall were the main features of interest. The farmhouse has undergone significant alteration and replacement of materials but is thought to have been built in the Restoration and Queen Anne period (1660-1714). The watching brief shows that the sitting room fireplace has been rebuilt using or reusing earlier Tudor or Jacobean material, something previously suspected of both fireplaces.

Nothing of note was revealed in the dining room. The NbW wall of the sitting and dining room was confirmed as the original outer wall of the house. Some phases of construction and fitting were identified but nothing significant in understanding the early history of the house.
