This collection comprises of images from a historic building recording of The Maltings, 2B Lea Road, Gainsborough In June 2021, undertaken by Archaeological Research Services Ltd. The building recording was undertaken to discharge condition 4 of the planning permission prior to commencement of works to convert the building into residential apartments.

The Maltings is comprised of three main building components. Building 1 relates to the long malt house structure positioned against Lea Road, Building 2 relates to the structure adjacent to Building 1 to the west, situated within the western gravel yard, and Building 3 relates to the structure to the north of Building 1.

The site likely dates to the late 18th century, evidenced by the narrow hand thrown bricks, and segmental arches indicative of this period.

The historic building recording provides an analytical description and photographic record of the Maltings, and provides a comprehensive preservation by record of the buildings prior to any development works taking place.
