Observation Post: Exterior Entrance, Tube for Monitoring Equipment and Air Vent. Facing East.

This archive contains images from a level 1 historic building recording, undertaken by MAP Archaeological Practice Ltd on the 25th August 2021. This was an Emergency Record, prior to covering over this Observation Post. The photographic record was undertaken of the exterior. Photos of the interior provided by the developer. Bunker entrance sealed for safety. Upper structure demolished.

The bunker was constructed in the mid to late 1950s with an overground Orlit B Observation Post and decommissioned in 1968. The overground observation post had been demolished previously. The bunker had been sealed and the access ladder removed to prevent trespassing.

The access hatch, air vent and shaft for the sensing equipment was photographed. The vegetation had been removed and the interior had been accessed by Barratt, who supplied the interior photographs.

The exterior sensors and equipment had been removed on decommissioning. The interior access ladder and the Orlit B Observation Post had been removed due to trespassing issues. The concrete structure was in poor condition with root damage. Fifty-two high resolution digital photographs were taken to record the exterior and interior of the buildings.
