Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Introduction

This collection comprises of site photographs, LiDAR, text and CAD data from a Historic Building Recording (HBR) survey of the two Cold War structures at RAF Greatworth Park. This survey was commissioned by Fusion and undertaken by Wardell Armstrong in 2021 and 2022. GIS data has been uploaded to ADS directly by HS2.

Project Summary

Wardell Armstrong were commissioned by Fusion to undertake a Historic Building Recording (HBR) survey of the two Cold War structures at RAF Greatworth Park. The works of HBR were required to produce an analytical record of the World War II buildings comprising the former accommodation block prior to demolition as part of construction activities relating to Phase 1 of HS2. The structures at RAF Greatworth Park comprised two interconnected L-shaped buildings with two courtyards. The buildings were last used as offices and are still partially in use as soil sample testing site. The two blocks were originally built as accommodation block for RAF Greatworth, the remnants of main compound of which are situated to the south-west of the site. The environs of the buildings have been compromised by the development of the current adjacent compound.

Re-Use Value Statement

The in-depth analysis of the building in the course of the demolition of the building gave an insight into the construction of the building, its development and its use. The survey and laser scan preserved the structure for future analysis of its structure and design.
