Visual characteristicsAn orange maroon fabric with abundant grains of quartz. |
PetrologyThe fabric is characterised by an iron-rich matrix and abundant well-sorted inclusions, mainly composed of quartz, but also with subordinate calcareous microfossils and rare heavy mineral grains. The coarser quartz grains (up to 0.6-1 mm across) are rounded in shape with opaque surfaces that are typical aeolian characteristics (Capelli, 2001). Claudio Capelli |
