Concrete pillbox designed for its site. It is built under the legs of a railway footbridge. 6 x embrasures (all sealed). The entrance is also sealed. In very good condition. [Surrey Industrial Society survey gives NGR - TQ 330639].
(Source: Field Visit 1993/03/01)
A bespoke pillbox tailored to suit the unusual site. Constructed of reinforced concrete around the supporting iron pillars and cross-struts of a footbridge over a now abandoned railway, the pillbox has at least two infilled embrasures facing the tracks. At this point, near the former Selsdon Road station, there was a long line of anti-tank cubes immediately opposite the pillbox [see UORN 2570]. Access to the pillbox itself is not possible.
