Type 24 pillbox with outer right angled concrete blast wall protecting entrance. Walls are 14ins thick, roof 11ins thick. Embrasures are 11.5ins high and 10.5ins wide at narrowest point. Constructed with concrete blocks, this pillbox is one survivor of the three pillboxes protecting the only road entrance to Porthcurno village. About 40 years ago an attempt was made to demolish the pillbox, but the local farmer said that after several attempts to dynamite it he had to give up as the cost of the dynamite was exceeding the amount given to him by the Government as compensation. Evidence of the minor damage caused by these efforts can be seen on the pillbox walls. It is situated about 80 yards and 150 yards from the other two original pillboxes.
