Type 22 pillbox - faces E. Entrance on W side, with concrete block over, later bricked up with a lower doorway protected by concrete 'cube-shaped' roofed anti-blast wall. Vertical rectangular embrasures.
(Source: Field Visit 1987/01)
Purpose-built hexagonal brick and concrete pillbox of unusually tall design standing at the top of a steep hill. The extra height gives commanding views over the wide valley on its N side and the steep lane which traverses it. The pillbox was originally camouflaged to represent a small house with windows, door, and drainpipe, but all traces of paint have now disappeared. The small, low entrance which facilitates a 360 degree fire capability has been concreted over.

Tall pillbox based on a type 22. Brick-shuttered. It is positioned just below the forward crest of a N-facing ridge. The extra height is to allow a field of fire over the crest of the hill to the S and across the bank of the lane to the E. Main field of fire - N. 'Vertical' embrasures, witha greater height than width, in each face. A length of steel cable trails from an embrasure. Overgrown on the N face with ivy. The entrance was by a low-set concrete porch on the W side, now blocked.
