Pillbox variant, set back into hillside with angled corners, on side facing river. Access on SE side by low entry in concrete revetted passage.
(Source: Field Visit 1998/11/11)
Pillbox, variant, set into the face of a bank, internally includes a Y shaped anti-ricochet wall. The rear wall of the pillbox is cut into the bank and is 1.96m wide, with walls at right angles projecting forward 4.4m. The N side has no embrasures, the S has low access door at the rear leading to an access trench, 0.96m wide, with sloping concrete retaining wall to hold the adjoining bank. There are two embrasures in the main wall at the side of the trench with a field of fire across the trench. The main E wall overlooking the river has two embrasures and is linked to the main side wall with angled walls each with one embrasure. The excavated material from the cutting into the slope of the bank was used to bank up the front walls and to provide a thick earth covering on the roof of the pillbox. This was grassed so as to blend the work into the surroundings as much as possible.
