Circular pillbox made of concreted sandbags, with a central roof support. There are 3 embrasures for machine guns and also close-defence loops. Inside, there are sitting firing positions. [Known as the 'Cumberland design']. [M. Osborne].

'Cumberland-type machine gun and anti-tank rifle emplacement'. A pillbox unique to Cumberland constructed from concrete-filled sandbags and with a concrete roof. The embrasures have concrete slab lintels. A cairn has been built on the roof as a memorial to four Silloth firemen who drowned in a rescue attempt.
