Defence grouping GHQ Line: Blue - Section of GHQ Stop Line running from near Melksham to Reading.
Devizes nodal point - The defences of Devizes on the GHQ Blue Line. The defences were developed as a nodal point because Devizes was considered an important centre of regional road communications (July 1940). During 1941 it was reclassified as a Category B anti-tank island.
