Introduction

The Beaker round barrow at West Cotton, Raunds

This project was designed by Northamptonshire Archaeology and Exeter University to present the evidence of the character of the relationship between the environmental and archaeological record and variations in the watertable for the Nene Valley from its source in Northamptonshire to Peterborough.

The project was funded by English Heritage from the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF). The project funding allowed for work to be carried out in Northamptonshire Archaeology and Exeter University both collecting and collating data. Work was carried out by Dr Phil Allen and Professor A G Brown at Exeter and Ian Meadows and Karen Deighton at Northampton.
