Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Site Database

This is the site database which contains the information from site context records; sample register; sample evaluation forms; photo index records; drawing index records; small find index records; bulk finds lists; record number ranges; record numbers used and phasing information. There are 16 main tables and an additional 19 glossary look-up tables for where a field makes use of controlled vocabulary making 35 tables in total. Originally the database was created in two parts, with the data separate from the 'front end' interface, this interface part of the database has not been retained for the archive, but information about the creation and use of the database can be found below.
