Quarries

General Comments:

One of the earliest references to a quarry at Burford/Upton is in the manorial Account Roll for 1435-6, and by the 17th century this quarry was supplying stone to Oxford and London (after the fire of 1666). The large quarry today is disused and overgrown with trees.

Known Quarries: Kits Quarry, Burford.
