General Colour Description:

A red/brown often orange/brown coloured stone.

Hand Specimen Description:

A medium grained, soft, granular sandstone which is well sorted with a rough feel. There are two types: a red variety and a mottled variety, the latter is better known as 'Flecked Sandstone' in Cheshire (Watson 1911: 154).
