Excavation of three trenches within the graveyard during 1998 revealed a total of thirty-seven skeletons ranging in date from the seventh to the eleventh century. The assemblage is notable for the predominance of males in the group, only three females being identified. Three of the skeletons were radiocarbon dated. All were west-east aligned sub-rectangular graves. The burials were all supine extended and unaccompanied with the exception of one who was wearing a copper alloy belt buckle. A number of graves had stone linings while one had possible `ear-muffs' and there was evidence for ?wooden coffins in the form of iron nails and probable iron coffin fittings.
