Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Suggests that an unusual layer of sand, preserved between layers of peat and mud on the northern and eastern coasts of Scotland, is the result of a tsunami which struck some 7000 years ago. The tsunami was probably caused by a huge submarine landslip in the Norwegian Sea, known as the second Storegga slide. The consequences for Mesolithic coastal settlers are discussed (see also 91/349). MH | ||
