Abstract:
Most of the archaeological exploration of the caves has the usual 19th-century shortcomings, and new excavations are needed. The few Creswellian and microlithic flints from Victoria, Kinsey and Jubilee Caves probably stand for many more that could have been found. Neolithic use of the caves was mostly sepulchral; Bronze Age people seldom resorted there. A little EIA evidence and considerable RB material includes votive deposits; some late Saxon metalwork is also found.
