Abstract:
The article is a reduced version of a longer work by Boessneck, Müller and Teichert. Only the most commonly-occurring comparative features of archaeological samples are considered here, and genetic variations in the relations of the skeletal parts are not discussed. Skull differences are illustrated (34 figures) and dealt with briefly, but tooth differentiation is ignored, on the grounds of complexity and difficulty. Other bones dealt with and illustrated are the atlas, axis, scapula, humerus, radius, ulna, pelvis, femur, tibia, metapodials and phalanges. References are given to works of wider scope. B W
