Abstract:
Material from Poundbury Camp cemetery illustrates the application of osteological and palaeopathological data to palaeodemography. Methodology and problems of such work are outlined: it is virtually impossible, in most examples, to reconstruct the population structure because of distortions of burial practices, exclusions of certain members, deaths far away from the settlement, and so on. However, Poundbury seems reasonably representative of the deaths that occurred.
