Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report Abstract:	An application to restock woodlands covering the area of Ethelbert's Camp, otherwise known as Backbury Hill, was turned down by the Secretary of State for the Environment after a Public Local Inquiry, indicating that the damaging effects of the forestry cycle are an important factor when considering Scheduled Monument Consent. It is hoped that a compromise between the owner and English Heritage, possibly taking the form of a management agreement, could eventually provide the way forward.
