Robust responses to an article in Rescue News 101 by Mark Horton of the University of Bristol, which criticised the approach taken to the determination of a planning application for sand and gravel extraction at Ladybridge Farm, Yorkshire, affecting the complex prehistoric ritual landscape at Thornborough Henges. The response comprises a joint letter from interested parties at North Yorkshire County Council, English Heritage and the Council for British Archaeology, and a letter from Tarmac Ltd and their archaeological consultants. These defend the processes by which decisions were reached and the archaeological mitigation decided upon, and are in turn responded to by Professor Horton. LD | |||
