Abstract:
Tabulated results of a survey of twenty-five universities which produce archaeology graduates. Most of the seventeen responding departments had little information about the employment taken up by their graduates, but certain features were clear. The number of single honours graduates in 1978 was 134% of the 1971 figure, of dual honours 344%. In the period 1976-8, 57% of single honours, 35% of dual honours and 60%, of postgraduate students were known or believed to have continued in archaeology after taking their degrees. Eleven departments were found to provide some instruction in the financial, local governmental, and legal aspects of archaeology.
