Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
A small portion of the long-sought Roman amphitheatre was discovered beneath Victorian basements in Guildhall Yard. Arguments for preservation include its status as one of the few stone examples found in Britain, its location outside the Cripplegate fort, evidence for a timber precursor, and projections of its size (about 85m x 105 externally). Once again there is no substitute for adequate legislation for monuments of this kind. | |||||||
