Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Forty-four hand-axes from the Roman religious site were probably deliberately selected by the Romano-British users for deposition in two large manmade depressions. Continental analogies and classical texts and traditions allow the inference that the Witham axes may have represented 'thunderbolts' in the worship of Jupiter or his local equivalent. | |||
