Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Several British objects previously classed as horn-caps or mounts for hand-grips at the rear of Celtic chariots have now been more certainly identified. In the course of publishing chariot fittings from the La Courte tombs of Early La Tène date, Marien showed convincingly that such pieces as these for med the terminals for the up-curved ends of the chariot yoke. (There is a close analogy in the wooden yoke preserved from La Tène which has carved (cupped terminals.) The British examples from Llyn Cerrig Bach, Brentford, Arras and elsewhere, as well as an Irish pair from Lough Gur, are therefore best interpreted as yoke terminals. | |||
