SW 929942. The collection of iron, bronze and glass objects found in Bulbury hillfort in 1881 is discussed in detail and dated to early 1st century AD. The nature of the deposit is uncertain, but it may contain three groups: (a) fittings of a male burial (tankard, sword, scabbard, horse bit, bronze bulls from a ?yoke); (b) fittings of a female burial (bronze bowls, mirror fragments, glass beads); and (c) an ironsmith's stock-in-trade (anchor, sledge-hammer, flawed axe etc). Appended is a note on the cleaning and conservation of the anchor. Au(amp) | |||||||||||
