Abstract:
A hoard of eighteen bronze axes and three pieces of unwrought metal cake, discovered in 1882, was rediscovered in 1975 among the Wellcome Collection of antiquities transferred to the British Museum. The hoard is fully described, illustrated, and analysed by atomic absorption; it includes scrap axes as well as Heathery Burn tradition axes, and was probably deposited towards the end of the period 8th-6th centuries BC.
