Abstract:
Notes the location by metal detectorists, and subsequent excavation, of a Late Iron Age cremation burial pit. This contained a decorated copper-alloy mirror, a silver Knotenfibel brooch, some pot sherds, and a fragment of calcined bone. Considers the occurrence in southern England of the brooch type. Discusses the mirror's decoration in relation to the British mirror series as a whole, and in particular in the context of other recent mirror discoveries. Discusses the burial in its local context, and highlights the possible significance of the topography in relation to the site. (PP-B)
