Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Michael Jubb, Director of Programmes of the Arts and Humanities Research Board, (343--6) outlines the AHRB approach to the funding of archaeological research, in an invited response to an earlier Antiquity editorial (September, 1999) and the current crisis in archaeological research funding. Barry Cunliffe (347), Sebastian Payne (347--8) and Colin Renfrew (348) reply from the archaeologists' perspective, with the AHRB's outlined view giving cause for concern. The question of whether archaeology and science-based archaeology should be re-integrated for the purpose of funding application is raised. The current funding situation is not seen as satisfactory. |
