Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The technique first described in 68/012 has been considerably Improveo using a Swedish design of tripod with extending boom. Hired aluminium scaffolding was used, together with specially made swivel boomtop, tripod head and feet (cost of special parts c £130). Assembly is done on flat open ground and the tower is then raised by the efforts of several people. The tower is not demounted for moving about the site, but a little practice is needed before the team can manage it with ease. When not in use the tower is tethered for safety in high winds. An exposure of 1/250 second was found to be sufficient to counteract any boom movement due to wind. Nearly two acres of the RB settlement on Ermine Street at Wanborough was covered by this means, 90 photographs being taken in 2½ days. | |||
