Abstract:
SJ 295145. Preliminary results from excavation of an ancient pond within the hillfort suggest the possibility of reconstructing a highly detailed record of the surrounding environment from c 3000 bc onwards. The picture already emerging from the environmental remains is one of intense human activity including crop husbandry. Several wooden artefacts were also recovered.
