Abstract:
[ST 6225] The massacre evidenced at the SW gate of Cadbury Castle is dated on historical grounds to AD 45 to 61, possibly to an extension of the Boudican Revolt in 61; but seven radiocarbon determinations made by two laboratories from associated charcoals and grain give results spread over the first three centuries AD. The sources of uncertainty in radiocarbon dating are once more set out and discussed.
