Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Total re-conservation of the boat, together with recovery of a few more fragments from the site, allowed a new reconstruction to be made. There was provision for 22-4 crew in the 15m vessel, which is of lime wood planks fixed to each other and to the frame by lime bast ropes only. The boat was part of a large votive deposit with spears, swords, and shields, and has a 14C date of c 350 BC (calibrated). Further study of the social and military implications of the find is under way. | |||||
