Abstract:
Corrects some points made by Biddle (90/18) and Wainwright (90/47) in relation to the MoL's role. In particular, MoL did not advise the grant of planning permission, only that an archaeological condition be attached; and during the two-month 'interregnum' two (only) MoL staff were allowed on site, mainly to guard against drying out. Further work entails understanding the remains better and finding the capital for a Rose Museum on the site.
