Abstract:		 Introduces three big events that will celebrate British archaeology in 2012. These are: the 2012 British Archaeological Awards, established in 1974 in order to recognise 'significant contributions to knowledge and the importance of research, professional standards and excellence, involvement of local communities in the study of archaeology, effective dissemination and presentation of archaeological knowledge, and innovation and originality of approach'; the 2012 CBA Festival of Archaeology, which will run for two weeks in July with a programme of over 750 events; and the 2012 Marsh Archaeology Award, which will promote success with innovative ways to communicate the results of community heritage projects. The six shortlists for the British Archaeological Awards are reproduced in the article, and details are given of the most recent winner of the Marsh Archaeology Award (the Dartmoor Cairn Survey & Repair Project).
