Abstract:
The Council for British Archaeology (CBA) was founded in 1943 to act as a national champion for archaeology during anticipated post-war redevelopment. Seventy years on the CBA remains a key body representing the public interest, and working with all elements of archaeology. With the current emphasis on public views in national and local decision-making, many activities now focus on engaging voluntary groups. This article describes some of the CBA initiatives that are helping to deliver local support for archaeology. LD
