Abstract:
Caerau Iron Age hillfort in suburban Cardiff, one of the largest hillforts in Wales, has recently been investigated by Cardiff University's Caerau & Ely Rediscovering Heritage Project, revealing evidence of intensive Iron Age settlement as well as further activity in Roman and later times. However, investigation in 2014 of four irregular lines identified through geophysics survey found that these features represented the remains of an early Neolithic causewayed enclosure, only the sixth to be confirmed in Wales. The findings are briefly described in this article. LD
