Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
In May 2015 there is to be a general election in the UK. This article reviews the current government's record on archaeology and heritage over the last five years, highlighting positive developments such as the publication of the National Planning Policy Framework, but also discussing areas where no progress has been made, such as the continuing need for a statutory requirement for local authorities to have access to historic environment services. The Heritage Alliance, which represents the largest coalition of heritage interests in England, has published a manifesto aimed at politicians in the lead-up to the election. Its four key points are outlined and briefly discussed here. LD |
