Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Found near Hammerwich in 2009, the Staffordshire Anglo-Saxon hoard is the largest of its kind known, consisting mostly of gold and silver weapon fittings. Cleaning of the items has now been completed, with work now focusing on refitting pieces; the current count is some 4,000 fragments likely to have come from 450--500 objects. Two of the most striking artefacts -- a dismantled helmet and a sword pommel -- are described in this article. LD | |||
